Since 1895, the Review has been the major journal of record for the historical profession in the United States—the only journal that brings together scholarship from every major field of study. The Review is published five times a year (in February, April, June, October, and December). Review volumes are published by the calendar year.
From July 2012 The American Historical Review has joined Oxford University Press. Beginning with the October 2012 issue, new content will be available at Oxford Journals.
Institutional subscribers will receive 2013 renewal notices from OUP beginning in July 2012. The journal will also be included in the Oxford Journals Digital Archive in 2013, making all issues back to volume 1, issue 1 available to institutional Archive subscribers.
From the 1st of July, subscribers should contact Oxford Journals directly with any access queries or other issues relating to their subscription. Contact details can be found here.
Single copies of the AHR are available through Oxford University Press, here.
Institutional subscribers through the Oxford University Press now have full access to the online version (all articles and book reviews) of the American Historical Review, including both current issues and the archive of back issues going back to 1895.
Access to American Historical Review (articles only) prior to 2008 is available through JSTOR.
