Terry Sanders, writer, director, and producer of Into the Future, is a prolific filmmaker whose documentaries and dramatic films have won several awards. Among the films he made or helped to create are the Oscar-winning documentary Maya Lin: A Strong Clear Vision, about the designer of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial; Never Give Up: The 20th-Century Odyssey of Herbert Zipper, which tells the moving story of the Vienna-born conductor Zipper, who survived Dachau and Buchenwald to become a great music educator; Rose Kennedy: A Life to Remember, which was nominated for an Oscar; The New Indians, a National Geographic Society television special about the renaissance of Native American life that won the Outstanding Film of the Year award at the London Film Festival; and a remarkable cinema verité documentary, Portrait of Zubin Mehta, that won awards at the Edinburgh and San Francisco film festivals.

Sanders was a cofounder and associate dean of the film school of the California Institute of the Arts and has been a visiting professor of film production at UCLA. He is the president of the American Film Foundation and a partner (with Freida Lee Mock) of Sanders and Mock Productions. He is now working on a feature-length documentary on U.S. pilots shot down over Vietnam.
