Cheaper Eats for Grads and Others

Below is a list of some of the more interesting (cheap?) restaurants in the Back Bay area of Boston. All of these places are within short walking and/or cab rides distances of the hotels. None of the listed places accept reservations and all are open seven days a week. The average dinner prices are listed, but lunches are around $8–10. For the truly thrifty, you will find a food court and a supermarket in The Shops at Prudential Center. Bon appetit!

Cactus Club, 939 Boylton Street. 617-236-0200. Tex-Mex style food; young crowd, good bar. Dinner entrees under $21 plus chips and salsa served free! Major credit cards accepted and casual clothing recommended.

Dixie Kitchen, 182 Massachusetts Ave. (near St. Germain Street). 617-536-3068. Spicy, New Orleans jazz dive. Plenty to eat at a good price. Under $17 for dinner. Major credit cards accepted and casual clothing recommended.

Arirang House, 162 Mass Ave. (near Belvedere St.) 617-563-1277. Korean Buffet. Cheap. Dinner averaging $14. Praises for the kalbi (BBQ short ribs). Major credit cards accepted and casual clothing recommended.

Division Sixteen, 955 Boylston St. 617-353-0870. American dining with a hip atmosphere. Dinner ranging $15–30. Major credit cards accepted and casual clothing recommended.

MacDonald's, 154 Mass Ave. 617-236-8145. Need I say more? Home of America's favorite fries.

Newbury Pizza, 225 Newbury St. (between Fairfield and Exeter). 617-536-9451. Pizza and subs. Dinner $11. Jeans are recommended here, still accept most major credit cards.
