Wendi Maloney Steps Down

AHA Staff | Mar 1, 1997

Wendi Maloney, editor of Perspectives since March 1995, has stepped down to take an editorial position with the American Writing Corporation, a Washington, D.C., firm that produces publications for the World Bank, the United Nations, and other organizations. The February 1997 issue of the newsletter was Maloney’s last full issue, although she contributed to the current issue.

Sandria B. Freitag, executive director of the AHA, noted Maloney’s departure with regret and praised her “exceptional efforts to expand the scope and content of Perspectives while maintaining the highest editorial quality.” Maloney added that she was glad to have had the opportunity to work at the AHA and to edit Perspectives. She learned a great deal and worked with many interesting people. She hopes that her new position, which will allow her to learn different aspects of the publishing business, will be as positive an experience as her job at the AHA proved to be.

Freitag announced that Robert B. Townsend will serve as acting Perspectives editor for the balance of the spring 1997 issues. Townsend, a former Perspectives editor, is manager of information systems and communications at the AHA and, as such, is responsible for oversight of the AHA publications department. Pillarisetti Sudhir has been promoted from assistant editor of Perspectives to associate editor.
