Suites for the AHA's 2012 annual meeting in Chicago have sold out at the Sheraton Chicago, Chicago Marriott Downtown, Westin Chicago River North, and Courtyard Chicago Downtown/River North.

A new block of one-bedroom suites has been added at the Residence Inn Chicago Downtown/River North, located at 410 North Dearborn Street. The discounted AHA meeting rate is $99 per night, plus taxes. The Residence Inn Chicago is across the street from the Westin and two blocks from the Courtyard. Annual meeting attendees can access the complimentary shuttle either at the Westin or at the Courtyard.

The Residence Inn is an all-suite hotel that offers several amenities including:

  • complimentary wired and wireless Internet in guestrooms and breakfast area
  • complimentary daily hot breakfast buffet
  • light dinner every Monday–Thursday, including complimentary beer, wine, and soft drinks
  • fully equipped kitchen in one-bedroom suites, with microwave oven; stove; refrigerator with ice maker; pots, pans, serving dishes, and flatware; dishwasher; table and chairs
  • sofabed
  • 24-hour fitness center with indoor pool

The AHA has also arranged for a meeting room at the Residence Inn to be used as a Quiet Room for job candidates preparing for interviews. The room will have coffee service and free WiFi.

Search committees who privately arrange interview suites at all hotels should give their room numbers to AHA Job Center staff, as the hotels cannot provide them to candidates. Send an e-mail to ltownsend@historians.org; text or call Liz Townsend; or come to the Job Center Information Booth in the Chicago Marriott, Grand Ballroom, Salon 1.

For a map of the area, all up-to-the-minute details regarding accommodations, and full details regarding accommodations, visit the 2012 annual meeting web pages.
