Special Registration Rate for Teacher-Student Groups Offered for 2006 Meeting

AHA Staff, September 2005

Spurred by the popularity and the encouraging results of an experimental measure launched last year, the AHA is again offering special registration rates for high school and undergraduate teachers who are accompanied by their students, both to nurture interest in history among students and to encourage their mentors. High school teachers who wish to bring some of their students to the annual meeting can take advantage of this offer and preregister themselves and up to five accompanying students for the special fee of $50 for the group. Undergraduate teachers can preregister themselves and up to five students for $100 for the group.

For administrative reasons, preregistration is required to obtain this special rate. It will not be available, therefore, after the preregistration deadline (January 4, 2006) has passed. Teachers who register for this special group rate have to provide the names of the students who will be accompanying them.

Once in Philadelphia, teachers will pick up their own badges as well as the specially marked student badges at the registration area. Students must accompany the teachers to pick up their badges, and may be asked to produce their student identification. The group will have access to all annual meeting sessions and the Exhibit Hall, but the students in the group will not have access to or be in the messaging system. Students must be accompanied at all times by the teachers leading their group.

High school and undergraduate history teachers can take advantage of this special opportunity to introduce their students to the history profession and its premier professional association.

Please note that this special rate is not available for graduate students, teachers at the graduate level, or 9–16 teachers who are not bringing students to the meeting. They will have to register by paying the usual rate at the appropriate level.
